Doug Ramos and his team of captains put together the travel reunion to Mexico in May.
The 2009 Travel reunion to Mexico was put together by Doug Ramos and his team.My wife Mary and I just returned from a trip to Mexico that was put together by Him and his associates. Mary had heard about Him from a coworker who had traveled with them on a cruise last year and really had a good time. Everything was taken care of for her dand she was never bored because of the many activites created by oug and his team such as the "All White Affair" or the " Chicago style Steppin Class and Stepoff" for those who want to show off the new moves they learned. The Spade card tournament and many other activites. Not to mention the different ports of calls.
The decision to travel with Dancin'Doug's travel reunion '09
Mary and I were looking to go on vacation anyway but my idea was to go to Walt Disney with the two of us and our son. Mary really wanted to go to Mexico so we e-mailed Doug and received the information about this travel reunion. He also told us to look on his website(www.Dancindougdiscounttravel.com) as more information would be posted. In communicating through the e-mails it seemed like we knew each other for years but in reality we had never even seen/heard of each other before.
A part of the travel reunion family.
He really made us feel like a part of his travel reunion family even calling me at my home to deal with any concerns I had. That's a big thing to me because he called me from Atlanta where he's based and I'm in New York City. What I was equally impressed about was the communication of his "Captains" such as Debra who was the captain of the NYC area and who kept us informed regularly.
Swine Flu
The planning and execution of this reuniontravel trip wasn't without it's obstacles. As the time to depart moved closer the Swine Flu situation hit. I would say a good two to three weeks before our May 16th departure day, the apprehension about continuing on to Mexico hit the mountaintop. The anxiety about how quickly this virus was spreading around Mexico and the safety of those going created a panic. The idea of switching the trip to the Dominican Republic or elsewhere was presented by Doug even though the D.R. was one of the destinations He was looking to check out for next year's trip.
Calm in the sea of chaos.
Mary and I initially thought that the trip would be switched to the D.R. The leader that he was Doug gave people a list of options and asked people to choose as soon as possible so that He could get back to the resorts with a decision.
There had to be a ton of negotiating, haggling by Doug and the resort manager to make sure all the bases were covered and everyone would be satisfied. Throughout it all, Doug kept faith in God and a sense of humor which he relayed through the e-mails.Even while being honest about the stress that situation was causing him. It helped to have a good team working with Him. Which included Rev. Irie Sessions who gave a Word from the Lord during this stage as well as the Word given on the beach of the resort the sunday after we got there.
The results
Around 80 or so of the 120 people wound up going so it was still a nice sized group. the primary reason it succeeded was the communication between Doug and the rest of us. He kept us informed at all times, no sugarcoating!! Unfortunately,Debra our NYC captain had to cancel at the last minute because of a family situation.
On our way!!!
Once we arrived in Cancun, we had to go through customs where they checked our bags completely. Out of my group I was the unfortunate one to have the light flash red after I arrived at the custom check point so they had to physically go through my bags to see what was in them.(Nothing but clothes and lotion, etc.) Then we all had to have our temperature taken by a
medical personnel before we could leave the airport in case we were carrying the swine flu(in our bags I guess LOL).
After that, we had to connect with our transportation that would take us to the resort. In picking up another group there we met Doug for the first time and he was wearing his green DancinDoug
"Uptown Reunion 2009 Playin in Playa... May Madness Playa del Carmen Dancin' Doug Travel with a picture of a man and woman dancin and holding a camcorder.
We greeted each other than he said he would meet us at the resort.
We had a good time!!!
We had such a good time that I'm going to have to keep this short or I'd never finish.
The BlueBay Grand Esmeralda is the best resort I've been in so far!!! It is definitly a 5 star resort and maybe higher if possible. We wanted for nothing. We did not have to leave the resort for anything, but we did take a excursion to shop outside of the resort but that was it. We really did not have alot of money to spend on extras but at the resort we could afford to get away with that.
All meals and drinks were included and I mean all!!! You don't even get that on a cruise.
To our surprise, we had a private plunge pool in back of our room as we didn't reserve a suite.
We also had a view and a short walking distance to the humongous public pool as well as the beach.
The pool bar was in between the pool and the beach and the drinks could be bought to you at either place.
Outside our building door was a gigantic chess pieces and board in case we had an urged to play a game.
There were 5 restauraunts even though we only used 2. The French restaurant and the Hut where not only we ate breakfast and lunch, we watched the birds eat human food as well.
If you wanted to go where the entertainment was, you had a choice to walk or take the complimentary tram which took you aywhere on the resort you wanted to go(I thought Disney was the only place to have this).
Not only did we have theme nights such as "Formal Night" or "Masqerade Night" where we wore sophisticated masks like at a opera while wearing our formal clothing given by Doug and his travel reunion crew.
The hotel had it's karoke night(which I sang "My Girl" to my girl and badly I must say.)
It also presented it's Mexican culture night or Lipsinc show,as well as games for the couples, etc.
It was just a whole lotta fun!!!
The weather was great too for most of the days we were there.
I also enjoyed the freindliness of the people at the resort and with Dancin'Doug's travel reunion family.
Those towel animals left on our bed by the housekeepers were cool too!
Anyway I said all that to say this, if you are looking for a first class travel agent to help you book your next trip or if you want to be a part of Dancin'Doug's travel reunion family just check out his site and see for yourself if what I described is true.
This travel family is about Love and having fun or as Doug and the Whispers say, "It's a Love Thang!!!"
