If your customer wants a discount cruise, then they will have to learn how to control theirr cruising cost.

If your customer wants a discount cruise, then they will have to learn how to control their cruising cost.

Here are some money saving cruise tips that will help them to keep their mind on enjoyment and not their money.300x250:

They may want to look for a discount cruise fare or use their miles that they accumalated in a airfline frequent flier program.

When they take care of their own air, the responsibility for transfers belongs to the customer.

It is possible that they could save enough to have a pre-cruise hotel stay.

Drinks.

Because some cruise lines will allow them to bring their own drinks, this is one of the things they should look into.

Soft drinks and bottled water are overlooked by some cruise lines but they could have a hard time bringing on alcoholic beverages.

"A bottle of wine or champagne for a special occasion are usually okay but don't even think about carting a case of beer."

It's better to stay with soft drinks if they are looking to byob(bring your own beverages to save money.

It's best to order their drinks while onboard in regular glasses. It's best to buy wine by the bottle because it is cheaper than buying by the glass.

"Any wine you don't finish will be kept for them the next night."

Gifts of wine or champagne ordered from the cruise line can be taken to the dining room. Wine from any other source will incur a "coverage" fee of approximately $8-10 per bottle.

While in the lounge, order the less expensive "bar brand" mixed drinks or the reduced price drink-of-the-day.

Depending on the cruise line, they may offer "beverage cards" for unlimited fountain soft drinks or a set number of mixed drinks.

*If possible, the captain's welcome aboard party is an event customer would not want to miss. Complimentary drinks are usually served. If you are a repeat passenger, don't miss out on "repeater's get together" for the same reason.

Casino's

If your customer can afford to lose a little money, check out the casino.

Just make sure you play "responsibly".

Pictures

If they are looking to have lasting memories of their trip, take photgraphs of the experience.

They should use their own camera. Having a digital camera, helps them skip the developing fees.

Food

They should look for a dining experience between $15-$30 per person.

they'll be able to enjoy a really upscale dining experience.

The afternoon is the best time to take advantage of the desserts. (Complimentary ice cream is often served in the buffet area.)

Free coffee and tea are usually available 24 hours a day someplace on most ships.

Using a insulated mug brought from home can come in handy to fill up at the beverage station.

Gratuities

Because this is one topic that usually comes with controversy.

On some ships, like Silversea cruises or the Seadragon yatch club, tips are included.

Both of those are the exceptions.

Most cruise lines suggest a tipping guideline and some even add those amounts automatically to on board accounts.

If you wish to adjust the amount, simply do so at the purser's office.

Internet access

You should warn your customers to stay away from making telephone calls aboard the ship.

It will run them between $6-$10 a minute. It would be wiser to use the ship's internet service if they have one.

Connections can run from 50 cents to a $1 a minute and often are slow.

Some ships may offer package deals of a cetain number of minutes for a set fee. This is possible when you look for a discount cruise.

They will often pay less per minute.

If they are able to wait till they reach their shore destinations, there may be internet cafes which are less expensive and have fast connections.

Cell phones

When it comes to using their trusted cell phones, it can be an expensive proposition. Have your clients check their cell phone service provider before leaving on their trip.

They should also make sure they know what the roaming charges and per charges fees are.

Laundry

It will cost them a pretty penny to have their laundry done on board or pressed.

The charges per item and the rates are similar to those charged in hotels.

If they purchase the top categories suites on some cruise lines, such as Silversea or Holland America, they include laundry services.

There are ships that feature low cost or free self-serving laundry rooms.(Silversea and Holland America.)

Pack a clothing steamer or hang wrinkled items on the bathroom door while taking a steam shower. That should take the wrinkles out!!

Medical treatment

It is prudent to buy travel insurance to cover the in case of sickness or cancellations due to illness.

It will probaly cost as much as going to the ship's doctor.

Shopping

I know it ran me $55 on my last cruise for a so called 24K gold necklace which after a week turned black. Onboard purchases can be expensive. This did not contribute to me enjoying a discount cruise.

Limit what you purchase to their neccesities such as a tootbrush, hairbrush, etc.

Spas, salons,personal trainers,etc.

If your customer wants to save it is best they get their hair, nails, feet, etc done before thet arrive on the ship.

There is a possibility of being a "demo' person during a spa and beauty presentation which will net you a free make over.

Most ships have gyms included in the price which will make them a discount cruise.

Simple aerobics and exercises are complimentary but some specialty classes(such as yoga) and personalized training instruction are extra.

Sports

If they can bring along some of their sports gadgets, this can cut cost and help them achieve a discount cruise.

They can buy their own snorkel gear relatively cheap at a sporting good store and a blow up rubber raft can cost as little as $1.

Luggage handling

Suggest if they can bring their in luggage with wheels if they weren't already thinking about it.

These are some the ways your customer can achieve a discount cruise.
