This page talks about a travel agent booking question.

This page talks about a travel agent booking question.

One day a woman posted a travel agent question on my website.

It asked about bookings when moving from an old host agency to a new one.

She stated that her experience was limited, so she did not know what to do.

That was the first time I had that question posed to me.

My experience was limited as well, so I did not know the answer.

One of the things about connecting with a good host agency was that resource of being joined with a qualified successful mentor.

I received this answer while doing my do diligence on host agencies from Lori Pelentay.

Lori is a travel agent and owner of her own agency Kensington Cruises.

She has been a travel agent for 25 years and affiliated with Montrose Travels for 3 years.

This is her response to the question of what to do with bookings once you leave one agency to go to another.

"Unfortunately, the bookings stay with the original agency. That's the policy...unless the first host agency is willing to give them up, but I doubt they would do that.

The only other way to do that is for the CLIENT to write a letter to the cruise line/travel company releasing the booking from the first agency to the new agency. It's very tricky, but it can be done. Call the cruise line and ask what information they need from the client to transfer the bookings from one agency to another.

Good luck!"

So if you are in that situation, be forewarned.

If you are going to join a new host agency, make sure you ask this question before you sign up.

If you don't, it could cause you a lot of headaches down the road.
