Goals and selling go together.
Goals and selling go hand and hand.
Motivation is important but you must have a clear idea of where you are going and what you want to accomplish to be a sucess at selling.
If you do not have one, motivation will net you nothing.
If you have no initial motivation, they can help you get it.
If you want to have success in your efforts, then they must:
Challenge you.
The ones that give you a sense of real joy when you reach them. There is no challenge if you can easily reach them.
Be realistic.
Do not set them so high that it will feel like you are climbing Mount Everest.
Measurable.
Put an exact number on it,or you won't be able to tell when you it's been reached.
Time-limited.
Put a deadline on it. This forces you to GET IT DONE!
Write it down.
Write them down. When you see it, you can do it. It is good to SEE steady progress.
NOW is the time to set goals for yourself.
Set them for:
Near term.
What you can accomplish tommorow.
Short term.
What you can achieve this week or month.
Long term.
Things you can accomplish this year.
Keep them simple and adjust as needed.
Example:
"Contact 10 suppliers a week."
"Introduce yourself as a travel agent to 50 friends and acquaintances this month."
"Subscribing to two trade papers before Wednsday."
"Going to the library to research the industry reference books listed in the resource section."
Be results oriented.
Example:
"Making three bookings this week."
"Making 20 bookings this month."
"Earning $500 in commisions in one week within the next two months.
In the beginning.
It may take guesswork to figure out how to set exact ones.
With experience, you should become more exact at putting down those you can reach. which should keep you energized and excited about your business.
