My first customs experience was humorous(Now).

The very first time I dealt with customs turned out to be a humble but brief experience.

While Mary and I were waiting for the call to board our Jetblue flight to Cancun, I overheard a lady across from me telling her travel partner about this procedure.

"When you arrive in Cancun, you have to push a button and if the button is green you can go right through but if it's red they will have to go through your bag. It's a random process."

That's when I had to ask her to please repeat what she had just said. "Excuse me, what did you say about customs, because it will be my first time dealing with that?"

"Yeah" she responded. " Once you press the button, if it turns red they will go through your bags."

"Man" I said. "I hope that doesn't happen to me."

"Don't worry about it, she reassured me, it's no big deal. It's quick especially if you have nothing to hide."

I thanked her.

Fast forward to Cancun airport.

As we approached the desk, the machine with the button inched closer and closer as the 2 lines of people passed.

A couple who flew with us on the same flight form New Yorkpushed the button and the light turned green, they passed through.

Mary was next and she pressed the button and the light was green and she passed through.

It was my turn and I pressed the button quickly....

RED LIGHT!!!

I was embarrassed.

A short dark skin Mexican man came up to me and escorted me to a table where I had to put my 2 bags on the table. He unzipped one bag then the next rummaging through my clothes.

He found nothing.

It all lasted less than a minute but I did get a chance to experience it and the experience was a little funny(now) but I didn't think so then.
