The BlueBay getaway at the Grand Esmeralda resort in Play del Carmen, Mexico is the best resort I've been in so far!

The BlueBay getaway at the Grand Esmeralda resort in Play del Carmen, Mexico is a true all inclusive property.

Unlike our first trip on a cruise which didn't include lunch, everything and I mean everything(all meals, drinks etc.)was included.

By the Grace of God!

Despite the swine flu situation, my wife Mary and I truly enjoyed our experience. One of the reasons was the Grace of God getting people safely to,while there and from Mexico without a single case of the flu intruding on our vacation.

Another reason was the expertise of Doug Colon and His team at Dancin'Doug Travel(www.Dancindougdiscounttravel.com).

BUT

It would have put a damper on the trip if the resort was a disaster.

The BlueBay is not a five star resort for nothing but anyone can say they are. Could they prove it?

True All Inclusive.

I had never been to a all inclusive before but had gone on a cruise before. A cruise is supposed to be the best bargain for the money but on our cruise, lunch was not included.(This was on the Big Red Boat in 1994).

At the Grand Esmeralda, breakfast, lunch, dinner and room service was included in the price(delivery to the rooms cost extra).

All drinks were included(even the ones made by the pool).

The refrigerators in our room was stocked daily with water, soda, and beer.

We got a big surpise because our room had a private plunge pool outside.(maybe that had to do with less people coming to the resort than normal or maybe Doug arranged for that.) However it happened,it was a surprise as we paid for a deluxe room which according to the website doesn't include a pool but had a balcony.

This made for great expectations for a BlueBay getaway experience.

The view was great!

From the room we had a great view of the public pool and the beach. the ocean was a beautiful green or aqua blue. Nice caressing winds but at times a steamy hot sun with stifling humidity.

We also had a humongous chess board and pieces outside our building(#4)in case we wanted to play a game.

This helped us appreciate the BlueBay getaway experience.

For the most part it was wonderful!!

The food was delicious,(french toasts, eggs, sausage for breakfast. Baked chicken for lunch and coconut shrimp for dinner and that's not the half of it.)

The entertainment was first rate, Karaoke(including my bad rendition of "My Girl". Mexican culture night, lip sync competition and not to mention my attempt at riding a mechanical bull(I did more time flying off it than riding it LOL).

To top it off, if you were tired from all the food, drinks or entertainment there was the complimentary tram to take you back to your building(or wherever you wanted to go on the resort.)

The staff was kind and considerate and we loved the towel animals left on our beds during the day by the housekeepers. Pretty cool!!

Listen, if we wanted to, we could have stayed there without spending a penny(a couple who was a part of our travel group said that's what they did.)That's after we paid for our room of course. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to get their money's worth and more.
